PIONEERING SKIN CARE CLINIC CHANGES NAME/LOCATION
TRAVERSE CITY - A local physician nationally-known as an expert in laser skin care has created two practices from the former Bay Point Family Care and Laser Skin Clinic and will move his aesthetic services across town this month to The Village at Grand Traverse Commons.
The "Laser Skin Clinic" founded by Dr. Jason Myers will double its current size and reopen on October 15 as Defy Aesthetic Club, offering the same medically-based, top-of-the-line cosmetic laser and skin treatment services but with "a new twist" in its location across from Salone de Capelli in Building 50.
"The club concept is revolutionary both in the aesthetic field and for Traverse City," said Dr. Myers, who has owned and operated his family practice and laser clinic since 2002. Defy will offer annual membership in its aesthetic club for a low monthly fee.
Dr. Myers stressed that Defy is not an exclusive club but, rather, that his current staff of nine will offer special pricing and promotions to members ? while providing services at traditional pricing for non-members.
"Membership offers better savings and is a great addition to how we've done business," he said.
Some of Defy's membership benefits include select pricing on Botox® Cosmetic and dermal fillers like Restylane®, invitations to members-only special events and new product introductions, complimentary birthday treatment and a "bring a friend for a free treatment" bonus. Other benefits are also being developed.
According to Tracy Myers, Defy's business manager, the 3,100 square-foot location -- with its 125-year-old wood floors, oak trim, 13-foot coved ceilings, tall windows and oversized doors - will create a comfortable atmosphere for a growing base of male patients and for others wanting to use the club's expanded services. Decorated in purple, cayenne, red and taupe, Defy's interior consists of three laser rooms, a large facial room, a treatment room with two massage areas, a consultation room, a waiting room, and a reception area with large, custom make-up and product displays.
"Finding the right location was huge," Myers said. "The space, concept and beauty of the building's restoration won us over."
"The aura, the surroundings fit perfectly with our commitment to aesthetics and sense of community," agreed Dr. Myers.
The club will also host hands-on training courses developed by Dr. Myers -- who has set protocols and been published in aesthetic magazines -- for doctors, nurses and aestheticians dedicated to using light, laser and Botox® treatments for individuals with birthmarks, warts, acne or unwanted hair, and for adults wanting to slow the effects of aging on the skin.
"We strongly believe these services should be tightly overseen by persons who are well trained," Dr. Myers said. "Our staff includes state-licensed aestheticians, medical and physician assistants.
